How to arrive in Palermo
Palermo Airport, also known as Falcone Borsellino Airport or Punta Raisi Airport, is an international airport located about 35 km northwest of Palermo. It is connected to numerous domestic and international destinations through more than 25 airlines.
Connections between the airport and downtown Palermo
- Train: The train connection between the airport and various trains stations across Palermo city operates from 5:00 am to 12:00 am, with a frequency of about 30 minutes. The journey time is about 40 minutes. The cost of the ticket is €6.80. Tickets can be purchased from ticket machines at the airport, at the train station, or through Trenitalia website. Trains stops at Palermo Palazzo Reale-Orleans, which is 3 minutes away from the venue.
- Bus: The bus stop is located at the exit of the terminal (Ground floor – Arrivals Area) and connections to Palermo are operated by Prestia e Comandè. Tickets can be purchased online, at the desk in the arrivals hall of the airport, or on board the bus, and one way option is €6 and round trip €10. Buses depart every 30 minutes to reach Palermo Falcone Borsellino Airport or the city center in about 50 minutes. Various intermediate stops are served across Palermo, and the service operates from 3:30 am to 1:00 am.
- Taxi: The ride typically costs around €45 and takes about 30 minutes, though this can vary with traffic. Surcharges may apply during night hours (22:00-06:00) or for extra luggage.

- Taxi sharing: This options are also available with a fixed price of €10 which will be applied only with a minimum of 4 users. Two platforms are located at the arrivals area for the taxi sharing cars, or can be also reserved to/for the airport

Accommodation
Palermo remains a popular tourist destination in September; early booking of accommodation is strongly recommended. Consider to book your stay nearby Corso Vittorio Emanuele or Palermo Cathedral in the historic city center or Teatro Massimo, Teatro Politeama or nearby an underground station (such as Notarbartolo or Lolli).
Getting around in Palermo
Urban public buses are operated by AMAT S.p.A. The bus network covers the entire city area. Timetables and routes are integrated on Google Maps. To purchase and validate tickets, the PalerMobilta App is available, downloadable for Android and iOS devices.
Palermo’s metropolitan railway service, managed by Trenitalia, connects Palermo Airport to Palermo Central Railway station and various intermediate stops are also served. Palermo Palazzo Reale-Orleans is the nearest one to the historical city centre and is the closest one to the conference venue.
NOTE Tickets cannot be used both on Amat vehicles and Trenitalia services, unless the Palermo integrated day ticket is purchased.
